“I’m giving this hotel 2 stars simply because the staff at check-in, although misinformed regarding their breakfast policies, engaging and friendly. I’m of Titanium Elite hotel status so it’s not like I don’t stay in Marriott properties often. The hotel is in a decent location if you enjoy the struggle of using public transportation, walking 20 minutes from the train station, or taking a taxi. I enjoy the first two. There isn’t much around the hotel but the lake and a tram stop are within a short walking distance. A few items that could have been better . . . - the high quality hand lotion dispenser was broken. I had to remove the top to get access to the lotion. One would think that they’d check the functionality of such key amenities. - the tissue had 3 tissues left and was quickly empty. One would think that they’d check the availability of such key amenities, not unlike an extra roll of toilet paper. - The front desk called me within 30 minutes of arriving in the room to ask if another guest’s items were in the room. Odd question. I would think that they’d check room for such belongings before allowing new guests to check in. - During this call, the front desk asked if I could use more waters. He promised to have some bottles delivered within 30 minutes. They never arrived. And lastly, as one who has stayed more than 100 nights annually in Marriott properties, I would expect breakfast to be included (and it usually is). Perhaps since this is a “private” hotel, they have their own policies. When checking in at the front desk, I was told that since the executive lounge was not available at this property, I could get the continental breakfast in the breakfast room in the morning. I could choose to upgrade the breakfast to allow for eggs Benedict, etc or I could take an extra 750 hotel points. Since I always eat light for breakfast, I chose the continental breakfast and the 750 points. I had toast (self service) this morning, and they brought juice and water. I then received a bill for 37 Swiss Francs, or around $38. For juice and self service toast. Of course I raised this to the server who checked with the hotel manager on duty. He told me that the hotel policy is either the continental breakfast for 37 francs OR 750 points. So if I had taken no breakfast I would receive the 750 points. Instead of doing the right thing, the manager chose to take the 750 points away, even though his staff was misinformed. Just a few highlights: - as often as I stay, I’m disappointed that a full breakfast wasn’t included - all I had was toast and juice for $38. That’s outrageous. The manager (not me) chose to use the 750 points I should have received. - I just looked on the Marriott site and this hotel goes for $972 tonight. It’s maybe worth $120. I will not be back on my next visit to Zürich. As can be seen by the manager’s response, they’re taking no responsibility for the state of the room nor the bad information provided by their check-in staff. It’s a meaningless response to shift blame for the condition of their rooms (which was actually ignored in the manager’s comment) and the misinformed (untrained?) staff working the reception desk at check-in) from the hotel to its clients. I’m not buying it. I know what I was told and stayed in the room. This hollow and condescending response is telling. Avoid. There are other much nicer hotels in this beautiful city.”

“Wow, what incredible service. We stayed one night here to start off our honeymoon and we’re very impressed. Irena at the front desk was extremely accommodating and friendly. The hotel itself was beautiful and is very walkable to attractions in Zurich.”
