I returned to Murrayshall Country House Hotel and Golf Club, Scone, Perthshire earlier last week. The old house part of the hotel houses the reception, the library, the lounge, bar, dining room and rooms upstairs. It cracks and creeks but it’s quite magical and the sunshine just makes it all the more whimsical. The last time I visited we were inbetween lock downs and no-one really knew what they were and weren’t allowed to do. It was lovely to see this hotel bustling with guests, enjoying early evening drinks outside on the terrace overlooking the golf course, seeing people sitting in the lounge taking in the warmth of the afternoon sunshine and golfers walking about with bags slung over their shoulders. MURRAYSHALL DELUXE ROOM Surprisingly I also ended up in the same hotel room. Room No3, in the original part of the house, just to the left as you come up the staircase and next to the Honeymoon Suite I believe. I do love this room. It’s the Deluxe Room with a gorgeous comfy king size bed specifically located in the room to make the most of those views out over the golf course and sweeping hills of Perth. In Summer the views are tremendous and you can see for miles. The bathroom is spacious with a great shower, long bath and superb lighting. Lovely Ishga toiletries are available in the bathroom. What I do love, and I didn’t notice the last time was the old fashioned telephone to call reception. Nice wee touch. MURRAYSHALL GROUNDS The room is set up as I mentioned to take in those views of the landscape. Mid afternoon, sunset or morning, the view is captivating. There are two comfy armchairs and a wee table placed right in front of the window in the room. I opened the windows, made myself a cuppa and enjoyed the sounds of the countryside with a little chatter coming from golfers passing by. It was delightful! After dinner, I threw the curtains open, climbed into bed and watched the spectacular sunset. Perfect ending to a great day! DINNER AT EOLAS MURRAYSHALL Starters - I was swayed by this delicious sounding Summery dish of Garden pea and herb velouté with knochriach crème fresh, sour dough croutons with an additional of Scottish Langoustine skewers. The pea veloute was incredible. I adore peas so for me this was stunning. Thick and velvety, creamy and smooth. Beautiful. Mains -I chose the Highland venison loin with red cabbage, hazelnut and chocolate with a side of thick cut chips. The venison was cooked well, although I was left just a little underwhelmed by the whole dish. It looks set to wow, but doesn’t quite hit the mark for me. DESSERT - Beautifully presented, this deconstructed Eton Mess was exactly what it says it was. A delightful plate of strawberries and meringues! Dinner is open to the public as well as guest and costs £35 for two courses or £43 for three courses. Many of the dishes have additional supplements.BREAKFAST AT MURRAYSHALL Breakfast was pleasant with a little bit of everything you could want from a hotel breakfast. This is a beautiful building and location, however our stay would have sit alongside Faulty Towers with service almost non existent. I appreciate that there may be staffing issues, but when we complained the duty manager was not interested. This is not a cheap place, much of the enjoyment in a place that has been awarded 2* AA service is usually underpinned by good service, it was appalling! I will also write to the AA as clearly since they were awarded the 2* rating in 2018, something has clearly happened, but the disinterest by management probably means that the situation will not improve. Very clean and tidy and though there were a couple of maintainance issues (fan not working right) it did not impact our stay and the staff were happy to note the need for repair. Food lovely. Portions perfect and happy to accommodate special requests /cater for allergies. The complimentary sundries in room all replenished daily and very nice - from coffees, teas, shortbread and bottled water to the bathroom products. Relaxing beautiful landscape. It rained heavily on the Sunday so we didn't manage to go on the walk we planned around the grounds. But there will be a next time! Thanks to all the staff who were all so polite, helpful and friendly. Que lugar lindo e atendimento maravilhoso. Saudados por Autumn, que estava em turnos a cada dia de nossa estadia. Muito limpo e arrumado e, embora houvesse alguns problemas de manutenção (ventilador não funcionando direito), isso não afetou a nossa estadia e a equipe ficou feliz em observar a necessidade de reparo. Comida adorável. Porções perfeitas e felizes em acomodar pedidos especiais / atender a alergias. Os artigos diversos de cortesia no quarto são reabastecidos diariamente e muito agradáveis ​​- desde cafés, chás, biscoitos amanteigados e garrafas de água até os produtos de banho. Relaxante bela paisagem. Choveu muito no domingo, então não conseguimos fazer a caminhada que planejamos ao redor do terreno. Mas haverá uma próxima vez! 2 night stay - Fri to Sun. What a beautiful place and a wonderful service. Greeted by Autumn who was on shifts each day of our stay. Very clean and tidy and though there were a couple of maintainance issues (fan not working right) it did not impact our stay and the staff were happy to note the need for repair. Food lovely. Portions perfect and happy to accommodate special requests /cater for allergies. The complimentary sundries in room all replenished daily and very nice - from coffees, teas, shortbread and bottled water to the bathroom products. Relaxing beautiful landscape. It rained heavily on the Sunday so we didn't manage to go on the walk we planned around the grounds. But there will be a next time! Thanks to all the staff who were all so polite, helpful and friendly. A special extra thanks to Autumn who really did make our stay a wonderful one

Always a Lovely meal in the eolas restaurant. Afternoon tea is lovely, great availability for it and love that it starts from 12pm so I have time to go on a day off during school hours. They’re very accommodating and have even fitted me in for afternoon tea on that day which is hard to get anywhere else most places stick to 24hrs notice. Decor suits the building, it’s quiet & peaceful. Siempre una comida encantadora en el restaurante eolas. El té de la tarde es encantador, hay gran disponibilidad y me encanta que comience a las 12:00 p. m., así tengo tiempo para tomarme un día libre durante el horario escolar. Son muy complacientes e incluso me han preparado para el té de la tarde ese día, que es difícil de encontrar en otro lugar, la mayoría de los lugares cumplen con un aviso de 24 horas. La decoración se adapta al edificio, es tranquilo y pacífico.

Loved our stay. Hotel is beautiful,room(bridal suite) was amazing, huge room ,comfy bed. Dinner and breakfast was quality and staff we're brilliant .Will definitely be back in the future 😉 Me encantó nuestra estancia.
