We had a great experience at this property. The hotel looked and smelled clean. The room was relatively small for a family of 4, but sufficient for our needs as we did not spend a lot of time in the room. The hotel was directly across the street from Newark Penn Station and it was a short 20 minute train ride to New York Penn Station from there. We felt safe at the train station even at 11pm when we returned back to Newark. Several police officers were in the station. Parking was included in the rate we chose and the garage was attached to the hotel building. The signage in the garage could have been clearer on how to get to the hotel from the garage, but we figured it out. They even gave us warm cookies and bottles of water upon checkin. It was a great experience all around and I would definitely stay here again the next time we come to visit New York.

Very impressed! Stayed here the night of October 30, 2022 (Sunday). Great location, nice staff, excellent room. Shower worked perfectly. DoubleTree signature cookies were amazing. Property is well maintained. Security on site at night.

First time staying here and probably the last. Chose this hotel due to a concert at the Prudential Center and its proximity to the Amtrak Station - didn't have a lot of time in between arrival and the concert. While it's very convenient, it wasn't well cleaned! For example, prior guest hairs (blonde and reddish colored) left everywhere - bathroom floor, back of the toilet lid, shower walls and tub, within a face towel, a hand, towel, AND a regular towel. It grosses me out to encounter other people's DNA while I'm trying to relax, not to mention multiple times. Also, the bedsheets were stained with God knows what. The hotel was sold out, as were others in the immediate area. Spraying Lysol brought me some comfort; luckily it was just for one night. I reported the experience to the Front Desk @ checkout the next morning and was told someone would call or contact me. Never heard from anyone. Very disappointing for a Hilton Chain Hotel, which I typically prefer. Certainly not in line with the expected standard of quality. If it wasn't for the location, I would have given 1-Star.

Location to some may work as Penn Station is right across the street so makes it easy transportation. As a visitor, it is a rundown area with lots of pan handlers and homeless people in the streets. Does not feel safe at night. Hotel front desk clerks were nice. Shuttle drivers not friendly. Hotel lobby is okay, needs new furniture and TLC. Room I was in had 2 double beds and a bit uncomfortable as bed sunk in. Tried both and neither felt right. Has a safe, mini fridge but no microwaves in room. Bathroom was a bit small where toilet is right up against shower and bathroom door, when open, hits up against your knee.

This location is great. Especially being across from Penn Station. There are many restaurants near by but the hotel restaurant has a great menu selection as well. I love that my room gets cleaned daily without me having to ask at the front desk. Front desk and bar staff are very nice overall. I definitely recommend this location.

Muito ruim. Ainda estou aqui. Um horror. Não arrumam os quartos todos os dias. Qdo arrumam, não colocam toalhas suficientes. Não abastecem os sachês de café. Hoje, pela terceira vez chegamos no quarto e as camas desarrumadas do jeito que deixamos de manhã. Lamentável. Pagamos mais de 12 mil reais por 10 diárias. Vim para Newark por ter família aqui. Mas, não é uma cidade para se hospedar para turismo. Porém, é evidente que depende da necessidade de cada um. Dei 3 estrelas para o local, mas não é porque aqui é bonito de se ver. É que o hotel se interliga com a estação de trem que te levapara Manhattan. Pela falta de trato conosco,NÃO recomendo este hotel.

Stayed here for 1 night but it was exactly as expected for the good price and location. It is directly across from the Newark train station (literal 2 minute walk) and that is more than I could have asked for. Standard beds and amenities -zero complaints! Cleanliness not an issue in the least. You could hear somewhat from the people next door when they were in their room but I haven't experienced a 3 star hotel yet where it is completely silent from the neighboring rooms. Staff was very kind and nobody bothered us. The only drawback is there can be a line for the elevator or check-in if you come at peak times (like when the train lets out). We had to wait about 10-20 minutes, but there are only 3 elevators from the lobby. Highly recommend for a standard/fairly decent hotel experience with good prices and great location!! 5 stars

It's an ok spot. It's main selling point is that is right next to Newark Penn Station so very easy to get to transit. The room was smaller then I expected but ok. The area isn't the best so be mindful of that. The shuttle from the Newark airport can take awhile so build in time for that.

This place was ok. Has a restaurant and bar in the lobby that does happy hour every day. The food and mimosa was good. The location is across from the Newark Penn Train Station. So you will have people hanging out all the time in front of the train stations. Not a lot of good selections in the train station for food. The staff from check in to house keeping was excellent.

We stayed for 3 nights and on the penultimate day it was with great surprise that we arrived at the room at the end of the day and we had not had Room Service. It was very strange because the beds were not made, the bath towels were the same, but they changed the air conditioning which, as always, sets a very low temperature and the room was freezing. Bathroom as soon as we arrived I noticed that the floor was dirty with a lot of hair on the floor.

I was recently visiting due to a concert in town and when we got there, there was some issues with our room being ready. Not sure if it was due to being short staffed or not but as someone who works in the customer service industry in todays world, I understand being behind.But the manager Sebastian was great at handling things and was very considerate towards us and tried his best to be helpful towards us. The room itself was nice and clean and cool. Would stay there again!

Double tree never disappoints with the cookies 🍪. This hotel has an entrance on a one way that Google maps has no idea about, the room wasn’t clean enough, they DO NOT own the parking garage on their property so you will have to pay if you drive there and front desk kinda forgot about me when I made a request. Otherwise it’s in a great location for why I was in Newark and very close to transportation if needed. Overall not a bad stay, employees seemed to be over it so didn’t greet or speak unless I did, not welcoming but not a major issue, I guess 😒

Located right across from the Newark Penn Station! Has a bridge to the train station for convenience. Easy check in. Very clean room. The traffic can be pretty loud at night, but besides that it was a great stay! Restaurant located inside the hotel had great food and very friendly staff.

UN DESASTRE. Este hotel tiene el peor servicio que he recibido. El personal de front desk es maleducado, poco servicial y realmente insolente. El gerente Sebastián es una persona realmente desagradable que en todo momento se encarga de hacer sentir incómodos a los huéspedes. Nos tuvieron durante horas esperando un cuarto porque son desorganizados. El aire hacía más ruido que el motor de un auto de los años 70 y el agua se atascaba en el lavamanos, nadie vino a arreglarlo a pesar de nuestros pedidos. Luego recibieron un paquete a mi nombre y se negaron a devolverlo dejando de responder los correos. Una experiencia horrible.

The hotel is dated/tired, but this review is 5 stars because of one amazing woman who worked at the reception desk. I wish that I got her name. She noticed that I was waiting with multiple pieces of luggage and offered to show me a shortcut and took some of my bags to make sure that my husband and I were on time for the airport shuttle. She exemplifies everything about great hospitality and I hope that her management team will see this and recognize her. Thank you for your kindness.

Doubletree Hotel located on street corner & Hotel logo visible from highway. Accessing the Hotel lobby entrance drive up is hidden if coming from street entrance ! There aren't any hotel luggage carts or staff assist when unloading your car on arrival. The check in desk is on the upper level via escalator.Additionally when checking in need to park your car first then bring parking ticket with you to complete check in process include parking fee to the room cost. If you don't park first will need to go back out park car for parking ticket. Also there isn't direct access from parking garage back into the lobby via elevator or from the lobby to the garage. So you will be going in & out of the lobby entrance to the parking lot. Try not to forget anything from car trunk!!! 🤣 However, the Guest rooms were appointed nicely and comfortable and spotless. Only one fault.there wasn't a Hotel directory of Services or TV guide available in any of the nightstands or desk drawers! Be prepared too handle your luggage from check in and check out!! Points of interest "Penn Station" is across from lobby entrance or via "Mall Gallery" accessed from inside the Hotel Lobby.and there are a few open places too pick up food items!!🥰

This past weekend my husband and I enjoyed a lovely overnight stay at the Penn station/Newark Doubletree hotel by Hilton. The hotel was nicely appointed with modern, quality furnishings. Security was excellent and the place was spotless. This isn't what made our stay so special, it was two of the outstanding employees at the front desk. Monica and Free were their names. They were exceedingly professional, compassionate and service oriented. They helped me with a special request with such hands on care that I will never forget their kindness and compassion towards me. These employees represent all that the Hilton brand stands for. Thank you again Monica for everything that you did to make my stay so comfortable.

Stayed for work, due to snow storm. Hotel is literally across the street from station. I didn't take any pictures. The charged me $100 deposit for incidentals even though my room was being paid by work. Front desk was extremely nice very fast easy check in. Stayed in room 826 very clean nice big room. Will definitely stay again.

The staff was fantastic and it's conveniently located right next to Newark Penn Train Station. I had no trouble checking in and out, it was a total breeze. It's also within very easy walking distance to Prudential Center where I was attending a concert, so easy to get to and from the hotel. Unfortunately I couldn't do the contactless check in as the Hilton Honors app is not compatible with my phones OS. I guess it's time for a new phone... The only real downside to the whole trip was the monstrous amount of construction going on out front, the noise woke me up way before my alarm. Hopefully it won't last much longer and the area will become quieter. I'll definitely be booking here again for my next trip to Newark.

We had a great stay here for 2 nights.. staff were very helpful.We have stayed here before and returned because of convience to airport and train station.20 minute train to madison Square Gardens.Only reason I give 4/5 and not 5/5 is that it is a little tired and ain't as modern or new as other hiltons we have stayed in New York... But perfect when in flight transit

I stayed here before and had an wonderful experience. Due to mix up on our part we were at the wrong Double tree. They had a shuttle that goes to the airport where we could have caught the shuttle to the Double tree we should were supposed to be at. Sadly, the driver there refused to take us. He said he was taking others to the airport. Thing is, the shuttle goes out every 30 min to the airport, we had called an Uber to take us to the second Double tree and during that time the driver never left to go anywhere. I would have felt better if he was honest and just said he didn't feel like driving us.

Positive: Hotel is well kept and clean. Staff is courteous. They gave me a late checkout without any issue. Negative: The location - you're right near penn station. You have tons of homeless right at the hotel entrance. Not a safe spot for a night walk. Parking is 52 dollars a night.

I made a reservation for a friend for December 26, 2021, through Bookings.com for 10 days at Hilton Double Tree Inn in Newark near Penn Station. We were looking forward to exploring Newark and NYC. At the desk, we were asked to provide $350 deposit. However, due to a family emergency, we had to cancel the next day. At the desk I tried to check out and was told I couldn't. It was non-refundable. Not true according to Bookings.com. I then asked if I could have the $350 deposit back. The manager said I couldn't. Upset and confused, I left. The manager was very rude and condescending. Taking a few days to chill, I called and spoke to the manager again. He said he would have to contact Bookings.com to confirm the cancellation, even though I had the email in front of me while were were talking. Apparently, Hilton's system doesn't connect with third party bookings. I said it didn't make sense for them to hold the $350 when the room had been vacated. The manager--his name is Sebastian--again was very condescending. Like he was speaking to a 14 year-old. I'm a college professor. I have rarely, rarely, been treated this way. Instead of understanding and being helpful, he spoke down to me like I was some kid. What is this manager's training? Why does he think he can treat customers like this? I told him I didn't appreciate his condescending manner and he practically hung up on me. I will NEVER EVER recommend this Hilton (Newark Penn Station) or ANY OTHER HILTON. Let's see if he emails me back with good news.

Manny the manager is rude and condescending. We reserved connecting rooms and were informed upon arrival that only 1 room was ready. We were never given our connecting room. We instead were offered a different room but on the same floor. There was no communication between staff. They could have easily relayed to housekeeping that the room needed to be cleaned. The only restaurant was over priced and food was awful. Parking is separate fee and outrageously priced.

Hotel a necessitar de remodelação, o mobiliário do quarto é antigo, mostra o desgaste do tempo e já é pouco funcional. O Ar condicionado é muito ruidoso foi necessário desligar para conseguir dormir. O Hotel não dispõe de adaptadores para as tomadas eléctricas europeias, no entanto os adaptadores estão à venda em Ferry Street (Portugalia Sales), que fica a 5 minutos do hotel a 1 USD . No lobby as tomadas estão seladas não sendo permitido carregar um laptop ou telemóvel. Free Internet wifi funciona bem quer nos quartos quer no lobby.

This was gross. Room was not clean, sheets had hair on them the pillow case was dirty. The bathroom was not clean with hair all in the bottom of the bathtub. Homeless bothering people at the main entrance for money and being at the front of Penn Station did not help. Don't stay here. Don't do it.

Double, not Queen beds. There is a big difference with 2 in a bed. Prices in bar are triple what they should be, so don't plan to eat there. Only close food is McDonalds. You have to request room service 24 hours ahead, no one tells you that. Convenient location, but not Hilton quality. Cheap price and clean.

This is overall a very nice hotel! Extra stars for the staff and service, one of the most hospitable hotels I have stayed at. I love the restaurant/bar in the hotel. The rooms are super clean, and this location is stellar. It's my goto hotel when in Newark.

We originally were going to stay for a week, but only stayed for one night because of how bad our experience was. We had to wait 40 minutes just for the hotel shuttle at the airport since we weren’t told that you had to call for the shuttle. The driver of the hotel shuttle was very nice and friendly, and our ride to the hotel with him was the only positive experience that we had with the hotel. First off, we were on one of the top floors and were told it’d be quiet but it was so loud that I could not go to sleep at all that night. The A/C was also broken and was making loud noises throughout the night. Also, I didn’t feel that safe walking around, even to the parking lot. Customer service was okay, but could be better.

Where do I begin? No wifi. The walkway was closed, nothing was open and we had to walk over to the bus station for breakfast which we were hounded by homeless people. I reserved a king size bed and got to the hotel and they told me only doubles were available. There were socks on the smoke detectors in the room upon arrival. Housekeeping never came to clean the room the three days we were there. Nothing but a horrible experience. Save your money.
