The city of Elvas, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, is located near the border between Portugal and Spain and lies along the main motorway between Lisbon and Madrid. António Ferro, a Portuguese poet had the vision of distinctive, rare and typically Portuguese hotels that were peaceful, gracious, elegant places. The SL Hotel – Santa Luzia**** presents itself as a meeting point among comfort, the art of welcoming, the History of Elvas, the gastronomy of Alentejo, and its unique landscape, continuing the tradition started in 1942, when it opened as the first Pousada of Portugal. Restored and modernized in 2013, the hotel kept his special and characteristic architecture, designed by Miguel Jacobetty Rosa (a famous and notorious architect in Portugal), and the cozy atmosphere and the personalized e detailed service that always was attributed to the historic hotel, that was the first in Portugal with this kind of service.The SL Hotel – Santa Luzia re-opened in June 2013 after an intervention and improvement process to update and modernize the hotel, making it in the line of the today needs, creating an unique experience and exclusive for those who look to relax and enjoy this region. The fireplaces warm the cold Winter days and the outdoor pool and the big garden refresh us in the Summer. Our location allow us to create different experiences according to every client wishes, because it's so close to the historic town center but it has a great garden that make you run away from the city busy life or to relax after discovering and visiting the heritage and landscapes that Elvas has to offer. This charm hotel has twenty-five rooms, separated by two different typologies: the Standard rooms and the Superior Rooms. All the rooms feature hand-painted Alentejo furnishing and a view to the pool, the gardens, the city or to the Aqueduct of Amoreira, to create different experiences according to every preference. The Restaurant 1942 highlights the traditional cuisine of Elvas.
